There are many forms of dementia, usually occurring in after the age of 65, but like many illnessess it can happen at any time. The progressive decline in a persons fuctioning can mean the individual may experience loss of memory, interllect, rationality, social skills and their emotional response may seem obscure.

Accommodation

Kankinya Aged Care Facility is a fully accredited, purpose built 80 bed high level aged care facility situated centrally in the leafy Canberra suburb of Lyneham. Our fully qualified staff offers a wealth of experience as well as specialising in dementia care.

Services

As well as 24 hour Registered nurses assisted by trained staff we also have a physiotherapist, aroma therapists, all allied health professionals and a hair salon on site. We have a full activities program with something for everyone.

Kankinyas dedicated staff not just cares for dementia sufferers, more importantly we manage dementia in a building specifically designed to allow the resident to roam freely and safely in a modern homelike environment.

Admission

Before entering residential aged care, you will need to have an Aged care Assessment (ACAT) completed to determine your care needs. This can be done by contacting ACAT directly or through your doctor, health centre or local hospital.
